Spartan Media Productions (SMP) will be a student–faculty collaborative organization within UNCG’s Department of Media Studies. The goal of SMP is to provide high-quality, low-cost media production services to the UNCG campus and the broader Piedmont Triad community, while giving Media Studies students hands-on professional experience.
Students will serve as core crew members on real client projects under the supervision of Professors Changhee Chun and Hassan Pitts. Through this work, they will gain industry-level skills in areas such as:
- Video production & live streaming
- Post-production, editing, and visual effects
- Color grading and media project management
- Collaborative client-based production work
These experiences strengthen students’ readiness for careers in media and create new research and creative opportunities within the department.
SMP will also hosts the annual 48 Hour Film Festival, “Alphabet Soup,” which will bring together high school and college students, faculty, and community members to celebrate storytelling, cultural diversity, and creativity. As part of the event, MST faculty will offer workshops and forums for local high school students and non-majors on campus, with student crews playing key roles in planning and production.
Your support helps establish Spartan Media Productions, providing students with real-world experience, creative opportunities, and community engagement programs that would not be possible without donor investment.
