Gifts to School of Health and Human Sciences contribute to...
The School of Health and Human Sciences is dedicated to preparing students to lead, serve, and promote well-being, while supporting faculty, staff, and programs that foster connection and belonging. The generosity of our community strengthens this work, helping us extend our impact locally and beyond. The School of Health and Human Sciences Enrichment Fund is a vital resource for sustaining and advancing these efforts.
At the heart of HHS are our students. Our undergraduate Student Leadership Program, now in its second year, is designed to prepare students through a variety of professional development, networking, and mentoring experiences, including engaging with our alumni network and university stakeholders. This year marks an exciting milestone, with students from the program's first cohort now serving as the inaugural HHS Student Ambassadors.
HHS faculty continue to innovate and make significant scientific contributions despite shifts in the funding landscape. They hold respected positions on boards, inform policy decisions, and receive national recognition for their work. Notably, Nutrition Professor Dr. Maryanne Perrin served on the World Health Organization’s first Guidelines Development Group, establishing global guidelines for human milk banking. Kinesiology Professor Emeritus, Dr. Sandy Shultz, has been awarded a patent for a device designed to help prevent ACL injuries.
Our outreach initiatives and centers, like the Speech and Hearing Center, Child Care Education Program, and Center for Athlete Well-being, bring vital services to local communities and across the state. Our Center for Women’s Health and Wellness, with generous donor support, facilitates the Active Girls Healthy Girls camp, introducing young females to exercise, wellness, and body positivity.
