Merianne Miller was a dear friend to many at UNC Asheville and in her community. UNC Asheville alumni will remember Merianne from the UNC Asheville Public Relations & Communications Office. As a longtime staff member, Merianne worked with mass communication students and Blue Banner reporters, serving as a mentor and teacher for generations of Bulldogs. As an advocate for the free press on and off-campus, Merianne dedicated her career to journalism and sharing this passion for the field with her students.
The Merianne Miller Endowed Scholarship was established in the Fall of 2018 in memory of Merianne, providing support to mass communications students.
With the approach of Merianne's 71st birthday on June 24 and need for additional scholarship support for UNC Asheville students, we are asking alumni, family, and friends to come together to help endow Merianne's scholarship before the fall semester. Once endowed, the scholarship will live on in perpetuity, supporting generations of mass communication students.
Inspired by the impact Merianne had on his life, Brian P. Davis '06 is matching all gifts up to $5,000 to Merianne's Scholarship. That means that your gift automatically doubles, making an even greater impact on our students.
Thank you to all those who helped up raise more than $10,000 in support of this important scholarship!
Brian P. Davis was so inspired by this outpouring of support, that he is offering an additional matching gift. He will now match all gifts up to $3,000 to Merianne's Scholarship. That means that your gift automatically doubles!
If we hit this stretch goal, we will fully endow the scholarship, and it will live on in perpetuity to support generations of Bulldogs. We will also have the funding to award our first scholarship this fall!
