Carrie Anderson
senior chemistry major and biology minor
“I first heard about the Student [Care] Fund* through the Student Government Association’s Instagram page. I had applied for unemployment after being furloughed from my job at the Asheville Mall but hadn’t heard anything back. I was feeling stressed about how I was going to pay my bills without any income. The post popped up on my feed and I was so excited - I immediately applied. Only a few days later, I found out that I would unexpectedly need to find a new place to live and this extra funding has provided so much relief. I can now focus more on school and not be as stressed about how I am going to pay my bills.
To the donors who made the Student [Care] Fund possible, thank you. Your support helped more than you can know - I am so grateful. As I apply for chemistry jobs in what is now a really tough job market, I have backup to keep me going until I’m able to start my new professional career."
Will you help support other students, like Carrie, to excel when the going gets rough?
*The Student Care Fund was originally entitled the Student Emergency Fund.
