Gifts to Food Equity Initiative contribute to...

College students are disproportionately impacted by food insecurity; at a national level, more than 40% of students face food insecurity each year. The Food Equity Initiative (FEI) at UNC Asheville is an essential part of ensuring that our students continue to have access to nutritious foods during these uncertain times.
The Food Equity Initiative is dedicated to providing healthy food to students struggling with food insecurity. FEI sources and distributes fresh, healthy food across campus through free community meals, food distributions, and Community Food Bowls. In addition to fueling the UNC Asheville community, FEI offers informational events, programs, and resources which also promote nutrition.
And we really mean it when we say gifts of any size make a huge impact!
For example:
- A $5 gift could become five pounds of pasta
- A $10 gift could become five jars of peanut butter
- A $25 gift could become five bottles of honey
- A $50 gift could become ten can openers
- A $100 gift could support student worker wages for two food distributions
- A $500 gift could support student worker wages for ten food distributions
