Gifts to Class of 1981 Scholarship contribute to...
In 2008, The Class of 1981 Endowed Scholarship was created by Steve Tuttle '81, Karen K. Brown '81, and Beth Farmer '81 to support students who demonstrate financial need. Thanks to their philanthropic leadership and the generosity of donors, this scholarship has already changed the lives of 20 students--but we want it to help even more Bulldogs!
This Founders Day, you have an amazing opportunity to grow the scholarship by $10,000 if you pledge your support of any size before midnight on September 12. Thanks to Steve and Karen, once 20 donors support this fund, they'll donate an additional $10,000 to help students just like Sydney Phillips '26, the scholarship's most recent recipient.
Sydney, a sociology major, grew up with two single parents and entered college as a first-generation student. “The idea of higher education seemed like a distant dream,” she said. “People like me didn’t get that opportunity.”
With the support of this scholarship, Sydney is on her way to graduating and pursuing graduate studies to one day become a professor herself. “[W]ith this scholarship, I’ve been able to write my own story and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty […] I am forever grateful.”
Will you join us in supporting The Class of 1981 Endowed Scholarship this Founders Day? Whether you give $5, $50, or $500, you can help to grow the endowment from $62,000 to $100,000 so we can help even more students like Sydney!
