Bayou to Baltimore: NSBE UNO’s Road to Nationals
The Team
We are proud members of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) at the University of New Orleans. We are a growing family of 17 dedicated students, including 8 Executive Board leaders, representing fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering, Computer Science, and Healthcare Management.
As Black and minority students in STEM, we are committed to excelling in our studies, advancing in our careers, and creating meaningful change in our communities. Our NSBE chapter is more than an organization to us, but a family that takes pride in each other’s success. We offer scholarships, mentorship, leadership development, and professional opportunities that prepare us and the UNO student body for the future.
This Year’s Journey
In March 2026, we are heading to Baltimore, Maryland, for the NSBE Annual Convention, one of the largest gatherings of Black engineers in the world. This four-day experience brings together over 15,000 students and professionals for leadership elections, competitions, technical workshops, and one of the nation’s largest career fairs. For us, this is more than a convention, but an opportunity. The 2026 convention is a chance to network with industry innovators, sharpen our skills, and represent the University of New Orleans on a national stage.
Our Vision
We envision a future where NSBE at UNO continues to open doors for Black engineers to lead, innovate, and inspire. Attending the 2026 convention will provide us with the knowledge, resources, and confidence to grow as students and professionals. More importantly, we plan to bring these lessons home to New Orleans, building a stronger engineering community that uplifts future generations.
