The ECenter operates as a start-up in an academic environment, and most programs are donor funded. Led by a proven serial entrepreneur, we are demonstrating significant success throughout the UNH student community. Being co-curricular means we are able to complement what all UNH students are learning in every classroom on campus.
We’re also home to the Idea & Innovation Society, the student-run Makerspace, and the UNH Entrepreneurship Club, a student-led organization housed within the ECenter, and our annual UNH Alumni Entrepreneur Hall of Fame launched in 2018. Below you can read more about ECenter programs:
i2 Passport Program: rewards students for engaging in ideas and entrepreneurship activities on campus with the chance to win $25,000 in cash prizes. Encourages students to start to explore and understand ideas, innovation, and entrepreneurship and how they might incorporate aspects into their personal and academic lives.
Student Idea Coaching: The ECenter provides one-on-one idea coaching and consultation for business ideas, no matter where you are in the process.
ECenter Student Idea Fund: Provides individual micro-grants of up to $250 to help students meet the initial business expenses of growing their idea or start-up.
Makerspace at the ECenter: The Makerspace is a 476 square foot workshop outfitted with fabrication tools and equipment for UNH students, faculty, and staff to create nearly anything they can imagine. Whether it be for research, a business idea, or just for fun, the Makerspace is a free resource for the UNH community.
Maurice Prize for Innovation: Offers undergraduate students the opportunity to pursue their idea for the chance to win $5,000. Success and failure are equally valid outcomes - all that matters is what is learned in the process.
Summer Seed Grant: Offers students the opportunity to pursue their early-stage idea or start-up over the summer, by providing funding grants and mentorship in lieu of a traditional summer job.
Paid Internship at Start-Up Programs: Provides a unique opportunity for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to get hands-on, in-the-trenches experience at an innovative start-up, working directly with the founder or co-founder!
