About

Here in the College of Liberal Arts, The (603) Challenge has made a significant impact in the areas and programs that make a liberal arts education unique. COLA students are free to explore their passions, interests and discover what possibilities are out there after graduation.

There are many areas within COLA that you can support during the (603) Challenge. The areas below have their own area challenge. Give to one or all of them and help unlock additional funding for their department/programs!

Your gift of ANY size to ANY area within COLA will help us reach our goal of 800 donors. If we reach that goal, $110,000 will be unlocked in additional funding from our generous COLA Development Board and friends.

Make a gift to the College of Liberal Arts!

Area Challenges

History Department: Support history students studying abroad! In the past year, the department was able to help offset costs for 8 students traveling to places such as Bristol, London, Lisbon, Athens, and Aix-en-Provence. GIVE NOW!

Communication Department: We strive to provide our students with high impact learning in and out of the classroom that will make them leaders in their communities. One of these opportunities in through the Civil Discourse Lab, designed to strengthen the ability to conduct meaningful conversations, collaborate, and weigh decisions around sometimes difficult but important topics. GIVE NOW!

Robert LeBlanc Memorial Fund: Robert LeBlanc believed that a Geographer’s place was in the field - getting to better know the people and places he served. After his tragic passing in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the LeBlanc family immediately set up the Robert G. LeBlanc Memorial Fund in his honor to support UNH students on their study abroad journeys. GIVE NOW!

Jazz Band:  The UNH 3 O'Clock Jazz Band has been selected to perform this summer at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy! Your gift today will help reduce the travel costs for 18 of our talented musicians to experience this life changing opportunity. GIVE NOW!

Museum of Art: Continue to offer programs like ARTBREAK talks that combine the experience of our exhibitions with talks from artists and UNH faculty and expand them to include mindful meditation and creative writing within the gallery spaces. GIVE NOW!

Classics, Humanities and Italian Studies (CHI): The Classics, Humanities & Italian Studies department is committed to sending Wildcats abroad thanks to your support! Gift funds will support department needs with a focus on Study Abroad programs. GIVE NOW!

Music Department: Gifts will help us repair and maintain instruments and bring the brightest and most talented music majors to UNH through our scholarship program. In addition, gifts can support the Large Ensemble Outreach program which will guarantee we can visit area schools and national conventions. GIVE NOW!

English: Department funds will be used to hire a professional sports writer and bring back the popular sports journalism course as well as honor beloved professor and Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Charles Simic, with a handcrafted seminar table for the Graduate Seminar Room located in Hamilton Smith. GIVE NOW!

Education: Gift funds will help bolster the UNH student experience by offsetting transportation and registration costs for fieldwork and conferences. The department hopes to also fund a 5th year Graduate student internship through the support of generous donors. GIVE NOW!

Theatre and Dance: will activate their department gift fund to continue presenting incredible shows, inspiring students, and bringing former Wildcats back to the department to teach, direct, and inspire the performers of the next generation. GIVE NOW!
