Supporting Discovery in the Mizzou Honors College
Here at Mizzou’s Honors College, curiosity isn’t just encouraged — it’s given opportunities. From small-seminar classes and one-on-one advising to unique study-abroad journeys and creative opportunities, the Honors College allows students to enjoy the strengths of a large research university while sharing the camaraderie of a close-knit community. From their very first semester at Mizzou, Honors students are encouraged not just to absorb knowledge, but to discover it.
Discovery Fellows: The Power of Early Research
Through early, hands-on research alongside faculty mentors, our Discovery Fellows gain confidence, curiosity and a sense of belonging in the academic community. These students learn how to ask better questions, wrestle with complex ideas and see themselves as contributors to something larger than a class or a major. For many, this early experience shapes everything that follows — from graduate study to careers in leadership and service.
The Discovery Fellows program is a key initiative for the dean and is funded by gifts to the Honors College Development fund. Through gifts from alumni and friends, the Honors College can help students find mentors, build foundational skills and develop readiness for research placement. To expand the program by offering 15 more Honors students the chance to begin research early, we need your help. A gift of any size moves us closer to the $3,000 needed to support one student’s yearlong research placement — and helps open the door to discovery for the next generation of Tigers.
