Educational Opportunity Initiatives Fund

The Office of Educational Opportunity Initiatives supports student success through academic support, leadership development, and community engagement. With a holistic, student-centered approach, these programs foster belonging, persistence, and well-being for students from Flint and beyond. Your gift helps learners overcome academic and economic barriers, build confidence, and stay on track toward graduation.

Marian E. Wright Writing Center Gifts Endowment Fund

At the heart of our work, the Marian E. Wright Writing Center helps students build confidence and skills in writing and speaking. Through one-on-one tutoring, students learn to develop, revise, and share ideas, while tutors gain valuable professional experience in a supportive, inclusive community. Your Giving Blueday gift supports tutor development, community programming, research, conference travel, and essential supplies.

Please note: Contributions added to an existing endowed fund, and distributions from the Fund, will be made in accordance with the University's then existing endowment distribution policy and used and administered as provided in the documents establishing the Fund.

Student Emergency Fund

When unexpected financial challenges threaten a student’s ability to remain enrolled, the Student Emergency Fund provides critical scholarship support to help cover tuition-related expenses. Your gift helps students stay registered, continue their coursework, and remain on track toward graduation. In moments of uncertainty, this fund protects students’ academic momentum and their path to a UM-Flint degree.

Wolverine Essentials

Wolverine Essentials addresses food insecurity and basic needs so students can focus on learning and thriving. Founded in 2019 as a “by students, for students” initiative, this campus pantry provides food, hygiene items, clothing, and access to critical resources. Your gift helps reduce hunger, support student well-being, and ensure no UM-Flint student has to choose between basic needs and academic success.
