About

At Michigan Taekwondo, we are a tight-knit community of dedicated students committed to athletic excellence, personal growth, and friendship. Our success and commitment to this is made possible by the generosity of supporters like you. Your contributions directly fund the essential pillars of our organization: quality instruction, updated training equipment, team-building events, and competitive opportunities.

As a club sport, we welcome students of all skill levels – from beginners looking to try something new to experienced martial artists pushing their limits. Quality instruction is the foundation of our training, ensuring that every member, regardless of skill level, can learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Your support allows us to continue to elevate our team’s skills and competitive edge through quality training and instruction.

Additionally, your generosity helps us maintain safe and effective training conditions. Well-maintained gear and a proper practice space are critical for both performance and injury prevention, and your donations allow us to provide the best environment for our athletes. Just this semester we are purchasing new arm, leg, and chest guards for our growing club.

Beyond training, your support enables us to travel and compete – an experience that not only sharpens our skills but also strengthens our bonds as a team. Through long road trips to get to our tournaments on the East Coast, camaraderie, competitiveness, and team spirit are experienced at its peak. Without your help, these invaluable experiences wouldn’t be possible.

Overall, we are extremely grateful to all of our supporters, family and friends, and alumni for being integral contributors to our journeys as individuals and as a community with Michigan Taekwondo. This club has fostered a welcoming and uplifting environment and it is thanks to the support that we have received that we are able to continue to sustain this atmosphere for each new generation of Wolverines. Thank you for being a part of our journey. Your generosity fuels our team’s success, and we are deeply grateful for your continued support. Michigan Fighting!

About our Organization

Taekwondo (태권도) is a traditional Korean martial art known for its fluid footwork and the development of fast, fancy, and explosive kicks. Taekwondo has been an official Olympic sport since 2000, has recently been the cause of global sensation through dynamic demonstrations on TV shows like America's Got Talent, and is the most widely practiced martial art in the world (70+ million in over 200+ countries)!!

The Michigan Taekwondo Club (UMTKD) welcomes people of ALL levels of experience: anyone from black belts who have been competing their entire lives, former trainees a few years out of practice, those coming from other martial arts backgrounds, all the way to brand-new first-timers with no athletic experience at all.
