About

As a student organization, BlueMUN attends multiple conferences each semester, providing members with opportunities to develop their skills, compete at a high level, and most importantly, have fun and bond with the team. The funding we receive is essential for covering conference registration fees, travel expenses, and other associated costs. Most importantly, this funding allows us to make conferences accessible to all members, ensuring that financial constraints don’t prevent anyone from participating or representing BlueMUN at competitions.

About our Organization
BlueMUN is the University of Michigan’s only competitive Model United Nations team. Founded in 2016 by two Michigan undergraduates with the goal of competing on the national collegiate Model UN circuit, BlueMUN gives members a space to engage in their shared interests of debate and international affairs. Our team is proud to be one of the Top 50 ranked collegiate teams in the nation, and with several of the largest conferences and many awards under our belts, our team is continuously growing and improving.

Model United Nations, or Model UN, is a simulation of the United Nations, its subsidiary organizations, and other national or international bodies. MUN conferences are 4-day long endeavors where student delegates participate in themed committees by writing and debating problem-solving memos. Typically, delegates participate in one of three basic committee structures: General Assembly committees, where delegates represent nations; Crisis committees, where delegates represent individuals and react to fast-paced news updates; and specialized committees, which are effectively a combination of the former two.
