BLiSS is a student-led research organization focused on advancing human spaceflight by designing, testing, and deploying deep-space habitation and life-support technologies through hands-on engineering projects, all the while fostering a multidisciplinary community of students dedicated to the future of space exploration. We work on a new project each year, providing students with an environment where all members are constantly challenged and learning! Additional funding allows us to expand opportunities to everyone and ensures access to necessary materials, laboratory space, and educational trips.
About our Organization
BLiSS participates in NASA's X-HAB challenges. These are university-level challenges designed to develop strategic partnerships and collaborations with universities to help bridge knowledge gaps and increase knowledge in capabilities and technology risk reduction related to NASA’s vision and missions. Previous BLiSS X-HAB projects include turning human wastewater into nutrients for plants, designing and constructing a full-scale mock Mars habitat, 3D printing soil for plants, and creating cutting-edge user interfaces to advance the ways astronauts can interact with their habitats in space.
