HONORS SUMMER FELLOWS PROGRAM โ€‘ 318685

Established nearly 70 years ago, the LSA Honors Program carries a proud tradition of experiential learning based on one's LSA major and varied academic interests. Approximately 500 first year students enroll each year, going on to graduate from all areas of LSA — from Comparative Literature to Physics, from Chemistry to Romance Languages, and History to Computer Science. Honors students seek a comprehensive, challenging approach to their particular field of study, which culminates their senior year with a thesis or an Honors Engagement in the Liberal Arts (HELA) project. Gifts to the LSA Honors Program enable us to support this exciting, diverse Michigan Learning Community.

On this Giving Blueday, your donation will directly support Honors students who take part in our Honors Summer Fellowship (HSF) program. The Fellows program provides a unique opportunity for a group of upper-division students (usually rising seniors) pursuing a Honors thesis or HELA (Honors in Engaged Liberal Arts) project to gather from across all major divisions of LSA: the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Participants learn from one another about the nature of research across a wide range of disciplines, comparing the modes of work, nature of valid evidence, styles of presentation, and special challenges. At the end of the summer, students present their work at a public poster session, exhibiting the results of their summer research to the broader University community. The fellowship encourages and strengthens intellectual curiosity and collaboration in research environments. Your support opens the program to many more students, and allows Fellows to devote meaningful time to their research, producing deeper academic engagement that promises significant personal and academic growth. We are grateful for your support!
