Protecting the Yearbook Archive
A complete collection of Michigan's official yearbooks are stored on campus in the Office of Student Publications, where we are currently lacking sufficient storage space. In order to preserve over a century of Michigan memories, we plan to build additional bookcases with quality materials to ensure long-lasting and effective storage. Help us ensure the protection of our collection of historic yearbooks dating back to the first edition published in 1896.
Why Help Us Protect Our Books?
It is crucial to have quality storage of these yearbooks, as they provide a record of a unique collection of events documenting life as a Michigan student: featuring campus life, student and faculty spotlights, sports reporting, student organizations, Ann Arbor news, and much more. We hope to ensure the preservation of centuries of memories and this will be made possible with improvements to our storage system.
“To me, the Ensian represents a legacy: Michigan's story from long before my time here. I hope this project will make it possible for history to continue to be told and preserved for generations to come.”
