Since its inception in 2004, PHS has expanded to support 150 middle schools across the state of Michigan by increasing healthy eating, physical activity, and healthy habits that support cardiovascular health. Please join us in celebrating our 20th anniversary of supporting school wellness in Michigan!
Project Healthy Schools (PHS) is a middle school-based health education program that works to improve the current and future health of students and staff across the state of Michigan. The PHS program implements a “5 Steps to School Wellness Model” that provides a skill-based health education curriculum, large-scale wellness events, and environmental change for each participating school. PHS teaches and provides opportunities for students and staff to increase healthy eating, physical activity, and healthy habits that support cardiovascular health at the individual and community level.
The PHS program began in one Ann Arbor middle school in 2004. Since then, the program has been implemented in more than 150 schools across the state of Michigan. As of fall 2024, more than 140,000 sixth-grade students have engaged with the PHS curriculum, wellness initiatives, and measurement, all which positively impact health behavior and the school wellness culture.
Your gift to Project Healthy Schools on Giving Blueday supports program implementation and sustainability of wellness resources for 150 middle schools in Michigan. Please see our PHS 2025 Donation Impact Document that showcases how your level of gift can directly impact the wellness needs of our schools. We look forward to engaging with you as a new or returning donor and welcome you to join us in celebrating our 20th Anniversary of supporting school wellness across the state of Michigan!
