The Adolescent Health Initiative (AHI) is dedicated to transforming the health care landscape to optimize adolescent health through practice improvement, education, research, and youth and community engagement.
One of its signature programs is the Annual Conference on Adolescent Health which informs attendees on the latest research and best practices to improve adolescent health and the practitioners that engage with youth in clinical settings. Typically, the conference reaches over 600 participants from over 40 states and three countries each year.
For the last two conferences, presenters were encouraged to co-present with youth and AHI was able to provide modest stipends for the youth to present. The conference has a limited hybrid option that reduces some barriers such as travel cost for the youth. Starting in 2026, the Annual Conference will expand to a third day that will be entirely youth-driven from planning to presenting. Funding support is needed to support the youth planning committee and to support youth travel to present their research findings to a national audience.
