CENTER FOR GLOBAL AND INTERCULTURAL STUDY GIFT FUND - 364091

Gifts to CGIS enable the LSA Scholarship Office to offer study abroad scholarships to LSA undergraduates with financial need—over 95% of eligible LSA applicants received a scholarship last year! As student interest in global experiences grows, U-M must support students eager to explore the world, learn about different cultures firsthand, and develop academic, professional, and personal skills. Your contributions help provide these transformative study abroad and international internship experiences, supporting a truly global education for U-M students from all academic backgrounds.

Your Gifts at Work:

“The LSA Study Abroad Scholarship didn’t have a small impact on my experiences abroad; it is what made those experiences possible. As a first-generation, low-income student from rural Northern Michigan, I had never seriously considered the possibility of international study, assuming that doing so would be far too expensive. After receiving encouragement from my advisors, though, I applied and was very fortunate to receive assistance in covering costs of housing, travel, and program fees for the Spanish 230 program in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Thanks to this scholarship, I was able to complete this program and benefit from all that it had to offer me - professionally, intellectually, and individually [...]. Moving forward, I have a newfound appreciation for not only international travel, but also for the programs that make such first-time opportunities possible for young adults such as myself.”
–Kelsey Pease, Argentina 2019, Spanish 230
