About

Bridging Perspectives: Empowering American Culture Studies

Join us in nurturing the future of American cultural understanding and scholarship through the University of Michigan's Department of American Culture. As a global leader in American Studies, we are dedicated to expanding and exploring the evolving narratives of U.S. citizenship, national belonging, and cultural connectivity. We take pride in our four ethnic studies programs—Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies, Arab and Muslim American Studies, Latina/o Studies, and Native American Studies

—integral to understanding the diverse American society of the twenty-first century. With your generous support, we can continue fostering groundbreaking discussions, supporting emerging scholars, and amplifying the voices shaping our nation’s identity.

Goals:

Expand Public Engagement with visionaries and experts in the field.

  • Goal: Secure $25,000 to host public intellectuals and community leaders for events representing the breadth of expertise within the ethnic programs and the core department.
  • Impact: Your support will allow us to host lectures, symposiums, and discussions with prominent thinkers, creating essential connections between academia and the wider community and sparking conversations that extend beyond academic circles.

How You Can Help:

  • Become a Donor: Every amount makes a significant difference. Your support is invaluable!

You can choose the appropriate option from the donation dropdown menu to donate to the department’s strategic fund or to directly support any of our Ethnic Studies Programs.

  • Spread the Word: Share this campaign with your networks. By raising awareness, you amplify the impact of our efforts and expand our community of supporters.
