CENTER FOR CHINESE STUDIES STRATEGIC FUND ‑ 316273
The Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies (LRCCS) at the University of Michigan is dedicated to advancing the study and experience of Chinese arts and culture. Gifts to the strategic fund support faculty experts who lead teaching, research, and public engagement in areas such as Chinese literature, film, theater, traditional medicine, opera, art, and dance. Their work not only preserves and interprets China’s rich cultural heritage, but also brings it to life for students, scholars, and the broader community.
Chinese arts and culture are unique in their depth, beauty, and historical significance. By promoting their study and experience, we foster cross-cultural understanding, celebrate diversity, and enrich our shared human experience. Programs like the Festival of Asian Music, which LRCCS spearheaded, showcase this mission. Through over 20 performances and master classes, the festival introduced audiences to the mesmerizing sounds of traditional Chinese instruments, including the erhu (two-string fiddle), sheng (reed organ), dizi (flute), gehu (bass fiddle), and yangqin (dulcimer). These performances connected U-M students, faculty, and the public with master artists and scholars, creating unforgettable experiences that bridge cultures and inspire dialogue.
Your contribution directly enables LRCCS to continue its vital work of educating, engaging, and inspiring. Whether through innovative courses, public events, or groundbreaking research, your support helps share the values and vibrancy of Chinese arts and culture with the world.
Please consider making a gift today. Your generosity, no matter the size, will ensure that the unique legacy of Chinese arts and culture continues to thrive and connect people across the globe. Thank you for your support!
