In the wake of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, we’re facing challenges we have never faced before. Our students need our help more than ever.
Fortunately, at UMass Lowell, helping our students overcome challenges is woven into our institutional fabric.
Like many colleges across the country, we’ve moved to online instruction for the rest of this semester. This change will keep our students, faculty and staff safer, yet we know this transition is particularly hard on our most vulnerable students.
For example, some students lack ready access to computers and the WIFI service they need to complete their coursework.
In addition, many of our work-study students have lost their on-campus jobs and the income that goes with them. And too many students have parents whose jobs have dried up, pushing them closer to the financial edge.
We created the Student Emergency Needs Fund for times like these. Your gift to this fund will enable us to act quickly and get students the help they need to stay in school. You can also support our Food Pantry, which provides assistance to local students who are experiencing food insecurity.
We know that many of you are facing your own significant challenges, so we are profoundly grateful for any support you can provide. Your gift, no matter its size, will make a crucial difference at this crucial time.
For student access to the food pantry please email Student_Affairs@uml.edu.
P.S. For your gift of $1,000 or more, your name will be listed as a proud supporter of UML students during this year’s virtual Commencement ceremony. Be a part of the excitement for this year’s class of students graduating under extraordinary circumstances.
