About

Did you know that 40% of UML students identify as first-generation college students? The River Hawk Scholars Academy (RHSA) supports first-gen students from the time they step on campus through preparation for their career when they graduate.

Being the first in their family to navigate college is an incredible achievement—but it can also come with unique challenges. That’s where the River Hawk Scholars Academy steps in, offering mentorship, career prep and a strong support network to help them thrive.

You can empower first-gen students on their path to success.

To sustain this momentum, we invite you to rally your network—friends, family and colleagues—to join us in making a difference.

 • Athletics: $3,000 to the team with the most donors and $2,000 to the team with the second-most donors

 • Departments/Institutes/Centers: $5,000 to the department, institute or center with the most donors

 • Days of Giving Featured Areas: $5,000 to the featured area with the most donors
