Health and Society Student Association

The HSSA creates a welcoming environment for Health & Society students and others interested in public health. Members participate in campus-wide initiatives to raise awareness of important health and wellness topics. Through events, educational activities, service projects, and collaboration, the organization promotes teamwork, community involvement, and healthy lifestyles.

This year, we aim to support both the UMassD and local community by helping those in need and creating opportunities for students to get involved. This includes making cards for veterans, nursing home residents, and older adults; supporting holiday giving initiatives for children; volunteering with local organizations; and organizing activities that promote health awareness on campus. We also plan to give students opportunities to connect with public health and healthcare professionals through career panels, networking events, and other activities.

Raising awareness of public health issues remains a priority. We plan to focus on topics such as mental health, wellness, and community health while making health information more accessible and engaging for students. By connecting students with shared interests, encouraging community service, and providing opportunities to learn from professionals and community organizations, HSSA helps strengthen the UMassD community and promote positive health and wellness initiatives both on campus and in the local community.
