Asian Pacific American Law Students Association

APALSA (Asian Pacific American Law Students Association) is a student organization dedicated to promoting cultural awareness, community, professional development, and inclusivity within the School of Law. APALSA organizes social, educational, and professional events that provide students with opportunities to connect with one another, learn about Asian American and Pacific Islander communities and issues, and engage with attorneys and other legal professionals. Through networking events, panels, cultural programs, and community-building activities, APALSA contributes to a welcoming and supportive environment at UMassD. The organization also encourages meaningful dialogue about diversity and representation in the legal profession while providing members with opportunities to develop professionally and build lasting connections within the law school community.

Last year, we hosted a "Chat and Chew", during Wellness Week where each student who stopped by wrote a stress-relieving activity they engage in on post-it notes which the UMass Law library kept up for over a week. We also host educational panels in our law school each year regarding topics that are relevant in order to educate our UMassD community. Additionally, we try and celebrate all of our diverse cultures and holidays at the school by integrating educational components and fun activities into our events. We are raising funds to support a "Friendsgiving" event for students who are unable to travel home for the holiday to give them a sense of community and family.
