About

The University of Massachusetts School of Law Black Law Students Association (BLSA) is committed to promoting the educational, professional, and cultural development of Black law students while advancing justice and equity within the legal system. We strive to create a supportive academic and social environment, enhance diversity and inclusion at UMass Law, and empower students to become leaders who serve the public good. Through mentorship, advocacy, and community service, we aim to uplift our members and strengthen our connection to the greater SouthCoast community.UMass Law BLSA enriches the campus community through academic, professional, and service-based initiatives. We host monthly General Body Meetings, Accountability Study Hours, and Outline Days to foster academic excellence. We organize events such as “Black Excellence in the Law” panels, movie nights on racial justice, and community service drives supporting local families.

BLSA also collaborates with the Office of Student Engagement, SBA, and Diversity & Inclusion Office to build inclusive spaces and increase campus engagement.

As one of UMass Law’s most active student organizations, BLSA plays a central role in strengthening representation, mentorship, and civic leadership on campus.

UMass Law BLSA is raising funds to support member attendance at the 2026 NEBLSA (Northeast Black Law Students Association) Regional Convention, held February 4–8, 2026, at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale, New York as well as other on-campus activities.

This funding will allow our members to participate in workshops, job fairs, and advocacy competitions, directly contributing to their professional growth and UMass Law’s visibility within the regional legal community.
