About

As the season of gratitude approaches, we invite you to support our 4th annual Beacons Bestow campaign, which will provide meals, winter essentials, and resources to UMass Boston students in need. As SNAP benefits resume following the federal shutdown, many students are still navigating gaps in food assistance and rising costs—making it harder than ever to afford basic meals. Sponsorships will help provide food during this challenging period, as well as vital resources at the end of the semester.

For a donation of $100 you can sponsor a U-ACCESS student, helping to ease their financial burden and positively influence their well-being, academic focus, and overall student experience. Our hope is to make a meaningful difference for 350 students this year.

If you are a faculty or staff member that would like to make your gift through payroll deduction, please visit umb.edu/payroll.

If you know of a student who is experiencing non-academic struggles, such as food or housing insecurity, please refer them to u-accessinquiry@umb.edu. For questions or to discuss giving options, please contact Casey McDonagh, Director of Annual Giving, at 617.694.7462 or Casey.McDonagh@umb.edu.

Supporting Students Beyond the Season

We’re excited to share a few moments from last week, when the Office of Student Leadership & Community Engagement and the UMB Baseball team partnered with U-ACCESS to distribute turkeys to students.

These photos capture what your giving makes possible: community, compassion, and real-time support for students who rely on our pantry.

Though we’ve reached our campaign goal, food insecurity doesn’t take a break. Additional gifts help U-ACCESS respond to ongoing need and provide stability for students throughout the year.

We Did It — But Our Students Still Need Us

Thanks to the incredible support from our community, we’ve reached our goal! Your contributions ensure that U-ACCESS can provide essentials to students who rely on our pantry.

But the need doesn’t stop here.

Even with our goal met, many UMass Boston students continue to face food insecurity and unexpected financial challenges throughout the year. Additional gifts help U-ACCESS keep shelves stocked, respond to urgent student needs, and provide stability beyond the holiday season.

If you’re able, we invite you to continue supporting this critical resource. Every gift—of any amount—makes a meaningful difference for our students.

Thank you for showing up for our Beacon community.

Thanks to your generosity, Beacons Bestow has officially reached its goal of 350 donors in support of U-ACCESS and we couldn't have done it without you! Your gift helps ensure that hundreds of UMass Boston students will have access to essential resources, nourishments, and a brighter, more secure holiday season.

Thank you for standing with our students, uplifting our community, and showing what it truly means to be a Beacon. We are so grateful for your support.

With thanks,

UMass Boston Annual Giving Team
