Fund Purpose:

The Global Perspectives for Humanities Exploration Fund provides scholarships for study-abroad opportunities. It is aimed at interested students who are looking to immerse themselves in new culture, new ideas, and fresh perspectives through the international study-abroad experience.

History of the Fund:

The Global Perspectives for Humanities Explorations Fund was established at the University of Maine Foundation in 2018 and has been made possible by fellow alumni and friends of the New England Universities in Salzburg – Study Abroad Program in honor of the program founder, Dr. Josef Roggenbauer, Professor Emeritus of German, Department of Modern Languages and Classics.

"This scholarship helped me pay for the cost of the flight and for my visa, which allowed me to focus on my experience of being in a new country and fully engaging in my studies and the different culture. While studying in Australia I took a few courses that offer some cultural perspectives, such as Intro to Public Health and Understanding Australian Cities. Outside of my course work the fund also allowed me to travel within and around Australia while living there. Traveling not only allowed me to explore these amazing places, but I was able to see how within each area the cultural differences compared to the U.S. I am so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to study abroad."
