At the School of Social Work, we believe that social workers make an important contribution to every environment they are a part of, no matter what the setting. In order to do this important work in Maine, a social work graduate must be licensed to practice.
The “Good Trouble” fund provides several small grants to assist students with the expenses involved in obtaining a license. Your gift to the “Good Trouble” fund helps our graduates obtain their license so they can work in their communities to help those in need.
The fund’s name borrows the words and ideals of the late Congressman and Civil Rights leader John Lewis and is a tribute to the idea that a willingness to get involved, even if it means causing “good trouble,” is one of the best ways to create change.
