Gifts to University College (General Studies) contribute to...
The average cost of college tuition in the U.S. is escalating. It has more than tripled across our nation in the last few years, and UL Lafayette is not an exception. Compounding this issue of cost is the high level of poverty prevalent in our state, and this explains the high percentage of our students that are both first-generation and students coming from limited resourced backgrounds. Although the federal dollars that are set aside for these students certainly assist in meeting some of the monetary requirements for enrollment, those monies do not meet the full enrollment needs of students.
Therefore, we are asking that the Giving Day monies be reserved to assist students in the college to offset their financial obligations.
