College of Liberal Arts

About

Your time at the College of Liberal Arts imparted something special. At some point during your journey, you stopped simply absorbing information and started connecting concepts, asking harder questions, and seeing nuance where you used to see certainty. That shift changed you. And it's still happening today for students across our College who are experiencing their own version of that moment, thanks to opportunities that donors like you have helped make possible.

As a proud Ragin' Cajun, your achievements since graduation continue to inspire today's students. As we look ahead this year, we’re excited to continue building momentum by:

  • Establishing a College of Liberal Arts Center of Excellence that will expand tutoring and supplemental instruction to help more students thrive from their first semester through graduation.
  • Investing summer seed funding in interdisciplinary research and faculty development for collaborative research projects and professional travel that create opportunities for innovation, scholarship, and student engagement.

Because of donors like you, we're also celebrating milestones that prepare students for success long after graduation. This past year, we launched the Podium Global Career Accelerator, giving students from every major the opportunity to earn academic credit while working on real-world projects with leading companies, developing in-demand digital skills, and building professional networks. We also introduced the College of Liberal Arts Mentorship Program, pairing high-achieving students with peers seeking additional academic support to foster confidence, persistence, and student success through peer mentorship.

And finally, we awarded scholarships to four students, following last year’s launch of the Kathy Ashworth Civic Engagement Scholarship, which connects students with internships at local community organizations that are making a difference in our region while aligning with students' academic interests.

So much more awaits the College and our students. To continue to be among those who help build what’s next, make a gift today.

With heartfelt thanks and lasting Ragin’ Cajun pride,

Dr. Ani Kokobobo
Dean, College of Liberal Arts
