Help Us Reach Our New $2,000 Milestone!
We are thrilled to announce that we’ve surpassed our initial donor goal! To keep this incredible momentum going, we are now aiming to raise $2,000 to expand the Intercultural Dialogue Series. Reaching this new total will allow us to host additional dialogues, bring in more cultural presenters, and provide the hands-on opportunities that help students from all backgrounds feel seen and valued. Your continued support ensures that as student interest grows, our ability to provide these transformative global connections grows with it.
About:
At Illinois, we want every student to feel seen, valued, and connected—and your support of the Intercultural Dialogue Series can help make that possible. Your gift ensures that students have meaningful opportunities to engage across cultures, learn from one another, and build the sense of belonging that is essential to their success.
International Education (IE) leads the university’s efforts to create a campus where global perspectives are celebrated and students—domestic and international—gain the skills to navigate an increasingly interconnected world. IE’s programs invite students to explore cultural traditions, broaden their understanding of global issues, and form genuine connections across differences.
At the heart of this work is the Intercultural Dialogue Series. These gatherings bring students and staff together to share personal stories about their cultural identities, heritage journeys, and lived experiences. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their own backgrounds as well, creating conversations that are open, respectful, and deeply meaningful.
Students frequently tell us how transformative these dialogues are. Many describe feeling heard for the first time. Others say the series helped them build confidence, make close friendships, and better understand perspectives different from their own. Attendance more than doubled from 2024 to 2025, and students continue to ask for more events because the experience resonates so profoundly.
The program’s influence extends beyond campus. Some students discover international interests that lead them to opportunities such as Fulbright, Peace Corps service, or careers in global education and engagement. Many credit the Intercultural Dialogue Series for shaping their worldview and inspiring their paths after graduation.
Your support allows this impact to continue and grow. With your help, we can offer more dialogues, bring in additional cultural presenters, and create hands-on opportunities that deepen students’ global understanding. Most importantly, your generosity keeps these programs accessible to every student who seeks them.
