When disaster strikes—fire, flood, unsafe housing, or sudden illness—the Emergency Fund is a lifeline for University of Illinois employees. It helps pay for rent, utilities, daycare, and more, so families can stay safe and rebuild. Your gift turns crisis into hope.
For over 30 years, the Faculty and Staff Emergency Fund has provided critical support to University of Illinois employees during financial crises—helping with rent, utilities, medical costs, and more. Since 1992, over 1,200 employees have received assistance, with an average of $30,000 awarded annually. Your donation, big or small, ensures colleagues in need can find safety and stability when life takes an unexpected turn.
After an emergency surgery, an employee didn’t have enough paid benefit time to cover the four-week absence from work. Unable to pay rent for the month, an emergency fund grant came through to pay his landlord.
An employee’s house was destroyed in a fire. The family was safe, but their home was lost. An emergency fund grant provided assistance with a rent deposit for another home.
