Assist students in exploring and developing their authentic selves by helping the Q-Closet grow!
The Q-Closet is a safe space where Trans, Queer and Gender Non-Conforming students can find free clothing and accessories to ease the anxiety and dysphoria they may experience when exploring and/or developing their authentic selves. The Q-Closet opened in Fall 2024 and resides in the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center. In the Fall 2023 Campus Climate Survey 27% of undergraduates and 25% of graduate students identified within the LGBQA+ community.
Trans, Queer and Gender Non-confirming students may find college as a time to explore their gender identity through altering their gender expression through clothing. Yet often students struggle financially with purchasing new clothing and may not have family support when it comes to expressing their gender in a different way. Our Q-Closet supports students, as a place where they can find free clothing and accessories to ease anxiety and dysphoria they may experience. Support for this initiative would allow us to purchase highly needed items for the Q-Closet such as chest binders, waist cinchers, and tucking underwear.
