Federalist Society for Law & Public Policy Studies

The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy is a non-partisan organization dedicated to reforming the current legal order. The Society is founded on the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be. The Society’s main purpose is to sponsor fair, serious, and open debate. The Society seeks to contribute political balance to legal education by providing a forum for legal experts of opposing views to interact with law students.

Our organization provides incredible networking opportunities for our members and students at the College of Law. We connect our members with practitioners across the any practice group and legal market. These include our lunch speaker series, the Illinois Law alumni database, the National Federalist Society network, and large-scale organizational student and lawyer gatherings across the country. Funding will primarily be used for additional lunch events, fellowship programs to Washington D.C., for the National Lawyers Convention, and fellowship programs to the National Student Symposium. With your contributions, we hope to launch inaugural programs for both the National Lawyers Convention and the National Student Symposium starting in the 2026-2027 academic year. These experiences will allow FedSoc students to meet like-minded practitioners and engage with national leaders. We aspire to begin these events very soon and need funding to bolster professionalism, our passion for The Federalist Society's philosophical ideals, and outreach to other lawyers in the field. It would be our pleasure to work with you to help get our College of Law's name to others within the national organization.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to fund our travel, hotels, registration for the National Lawyers Convention, the National Student Symposium, and other chapter events.
