Powering hands‑on marine education for Hawaiʻi’s students and communities
The UH Marine Center provides critical access to research vessels that support marine science, ocean exploration, and hands‑on education across the University of Hawai‘i system. These vessels are essential to advancing knowledge of Hawai‘i’s oceans while connecting students and communities directly to the marine environment.
This Giving Day, we’re focusing on the Friends of the UH Marine Center Fund— because sustaining these opportunities requires more than vessels alone. The fund supports marine science operations and educational outreach aboard UH research vessels, with a special emphasis on restoring the Blue‑Water Marine Lab, an immersive, at‑sea learning program for Hawai‘i’s youth.
By reconnecting students with the ocean through real‑world, experiential learning, the Blue‑Water Marine Lab inspires curiosity, builds confidence, and opens pathways into marine science and maritime careers. Your Gift Day donation helps remove barriers to participation, allowing underserved students to take part in the Blue‑Water Marine Lab at no cost — and ensuring access to ocean‑based education that can shape futures.
