Open doors to discovery at Hamilton Library
Hamilton Library connects students and scholars with the information they need to succeed. A premier resource for Hawaiian, Pacific, and Asian research, we are UH Mānoa’s information nerve center — sparking discovery for local and global communities. Beyond acquiring and preserving knowledge, the library provides the spaces, technology, and expertise that help students explore, collaborate, and create new scholarship.
Gifts to the Library Enrichment Fund provide flexible support for the library’s highest priorities. This fund allows Hamilton Library to respond quickly to emerging needs, strengthen collections, support students, and advance innovative services.
With your support, we can:
- Grow our Loanable Technology Collection, which provides short-term access to equipment for students who cannot afford to purchase items that are either expensive or only needed temporarily during their coursework. Our collection of more than 2,000 items reduces the cost of education and supports student equity.
- Support our Library Treasures Scholarship, which promotes the use of our special collections by students, faculty, and researchers. Last year’s recipients delved into our Hawaiian and Pacific, Asia, and MAGIS collections for their research, finding sources like the Hawai‘i Sugar Plantation Archives, historic fishpond maps, Tahitian newspapers, and an Okinawan magazine.
- Invest in staff development, enabling librarians to engage with global experts, share knowledge, and bring new ideas and best practices back to UH Mānoa. Last year one librarian was able to attend the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Summit on Information Futures in Brisbane, Australia, where she learned from experts in AI and technology, intellectual freedom, censorship, digital social justice, and indigenous rights.
Your gift ensures students, researchers, and staff have the resources they need — when they need them most.
