Student Emergency Fund
University of Detroit Mercy is doing all it can to ensure our students remain safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. We transitioned to online courses and closed our residence halls to all students except those who had no place to return. But even these massive undertakings are, in some cases, not enough. Detroit Mercy organizations like The Hive are helping students with food insecurity, but other help is needed. Some students cannot afford to return home. Some don't have access to the technology they need to attend classes over the internet. Most importantly, many have lost their source of income, making it impossible to pay rent, utilities, medical bills and other costs of living. That's why we have created the Student Emergency Fund, so students have a place to turn for help.
We hear many people express feelings of helplessness in the face of this unprecedented worldwide event. Making a donation that will mean a student can return to the safety of her home or focus on finishing his degree and not have to worry how he will live day to day is a very tangible way to do something. Please, a donation of any size would make a world of difference to Detroit Mercy students. It would show them that they are supported by a worldwide community of Detroit Mercy alumni and friends. We are Titans and we help those who need it.
