Our Family Pantry is a no-cost resource designed to mitigate food insecurity among our Detroit Mercy Dental family members. Its mission extends beyond merely providing food; it also offers diapers, wipes, formula, feminine hygiene products, personal hygiene products and household items, acknowledging that basic needs encompass more than just sustenance.
A prevailing misunderstanding exists that students enrolled in professional schools possess ample funds to sustain themselves and their families. This assumption is far from the truth. Many students grapple with financial challenges, balancing school fees, living expenses, and family obligations on a tight budget. Our Family Pantry seeks to dispel this myth by extending much-needed support to those within our community who find themselves in such circumstances.
We firmly believe that no student's pursuit of education should be undermined by a lack of necessities such as food and hygiene products. The pantry is conveniently located within the School of Dentistry and is accessible during all open hours. Our aim is that no community member goes without the essentials, promoting a healthier, happier, and more focused student body.
