The DU ART! Research & Travel Fund gives students the rare opportunity to experience the artworks, monuments, and cultural sites they study—up close and in context. Seeing these works in person allows students to move beyond secondhand interpretations to conduct original analysis, uncover new insights, and form their own scholarly conclusions.

These travel experiences often transform students’ academic and professional trajectories. Standing before a masterpiece like the Ghent Altarpiece or examining ancient ceramics in a regional museum connects classroom learning to lived experience, deepening understanding in ways that books and digital images cannot.

Through the generosity of donors, the DU ART! Research & Travel Fund makes it possible for students to engage directly with the world’s cultural heritage, strengthen their research, and bring back knowledge that enriches the entire DU community.
