Scholarships to DU are life changing, bridging the gap between ambition, merit and equitable access.

Through scholarships, DU can effectively recruit and retain stellar students who are difference-makers, thinkers and leaders committed to leaving the world better than they found it. Scholarships enable us to welcome and empower students who represent the best of everything DU is and aims to be.

We welcomed 1,350 future leaders to DU, 100% of whom received a grant or scholarship to pave their way to a DU degree.

Even still, there is an average financial hurdle of $6,439 standing between a student and transforming their dream of obtaining a DU degree into a reality.

• Sophia Mellsop (BSBA ‘22) transferred to DU to pursue her entrepreneurial passions. A merit scholarship recipient, Mellsop is grateful for the investment DU’s donors made in her: “They served as a source of encouragement to me. By giving, the giver is saying they believe in you.”
• For international students like Mauricio Alvear Escobar (BSBA '26), pursuing higher education abroad presents a unique blend of opportunities and challenges. “Coming from Mexico, my family has always valued education as the key to a better future, but we also understood the financial challenges that come with pursuing higher education abroad. Scholarships significantly eased the financial burden on my family, allowing me to focus entirely on my academic journey without the constant worry of tuition costs.”
• Navigating the path of higher education can be particularly challenging for first-generation college students. For students such as Lucy Chan (BS ‘27) scholarships play a pivotal role in easing these burdens. “As a first-generation college student, my family faces significant challenges in supporting my academic journey. This scholarship is incredibly impactful because it allows me to concentrate on my studies without the constant worry of loans and future financial burdens.”
