Help Send UCSC Rugby Coaches to New Zealand — Invest in the Future of Slug Rugby

For nearly 60 years, UCSC Rugby has provided students with opportunities to grow as athletes, leaders, and members of our community. While much of that success is visible on the field, it is made possible by an extraordinary group of volunteer coaches who dedicate countless hours to mentoring and developing our student-athletes.

This summer, our Men's and Women's Rugby programs will travel to New Zealand to participate in a preseason academy with the Waikato Chiefs and Bay of Plenty Rugby.

While this experience will be transformational for our student-athletes, it also represents a unique professional development opportunity for our coaching staff.

Our coaches will have the opportunity to observe and learn from some of the world's most respected rugby development systems, engage with experienced coaches, and bring new ideas, training methods, and leadership practices back to UCSC. The knowledge gained through this experience will directly benefit our student-athletes for years to come.

Unlike many collegiate athletic programs, UCSC Rugby relies heavily on volunteer and early-career coaches who give their time because they believe in the mission of developing young people through sport. For many of these coaches, the cost of international travel represents a significant financial challenge.

Funds raised through this page will help offset travel expenses for our volunteer coaching staff and ensure that financial barriers do not prevent these dedicated mentors from participating in this important developmental experience.

An investment in our coaches is an investment in every current and future UCSC Rugby student-athlete.
