About

Do you want to make a difference for a student researcher? Do you want to contribute to developing sustainable fisheries? Then join the Fisheries Collaborative Program (FCP) in our efforts to support students and create renewable fisheries by giving to the Fisheries Opportunity Fund TODAY!

When you give to the Fisheries Opportunity Fund (FOF), you’re supporting degree-defining research experiences and meaningful professional development for students creating sustainable fisheries and healthy aquatic ecosystems. Gifts may go toward student research needs, technical or professional development training, and travel costs for fieldwork or conferences. Gifts may also be used to support paid student internships and FCP programs and events such as our annual Science Seminar series.

Last year’s Giving Day donations helped support several AWESOME programs. To highlight, gifts from people like you funded:

  • TWO Fisheries Opportunity Fund Fellows, Alissa Takesy and Sidney Opiyo, and their international research. Your support helped Sidney provide actionable insights on climate adaptation frameworks and sustainable fisheries management practices in Tanzania, and allowed Alissa to conduct her collaborative research in Yap, FSM, to better understand how sustainable fishing practices fit in the context of cultural and traditional fishing rights. Learn more about their research in their summer blog posts here!
  • FIVE successful science seminars featuring career development support and professional networking (DVFS). Learn more here!
  • The launch of ONE mentorship and professional development group—COMPASS (COastal Mentorship and Professional Advancement in Science and Society)—and its first TWO interactive learning workshops.
  • And more!

By giving to the Fisheries Opportunity Fund, you are directly empowering student scientists and helping to create sustainable fisheries. Thank you for your support. We cannot do it with you!

With Gratitude,

The Fisheries Collaborative Program
