Join Cal Teach and Ed and Miriam Landesman to celebrate 20 years of Cal Teach at UCSC and support aspiring math and science teachers to build a better future!
Cal Teach has launched STEM majors into math and science K–12 teaching careers for nearly 20 years, continuing UCSC's long campus history of supporting aspiring K–12 math and science teachers. Your gift will ensure that 2025–26 Cal Teach interns in local classrooms receive a scholarship.
Professor (emeritus) of Mathematics Edward Landesman and his wife, former UCSC economics instructor Miriam Landesman, outstanding teachers themselves, are longtime supporters of Cal Teach. Starting soon after Ed's arrival at UCSC in 1966, they were instrumental in developing UCSC's support for K-12 math teachers.
In their continued commitment to this mission, the Landesmans have pledged up to $25,000 in matching funds to establish a new Cal Teach endowment. This means your gift will have double the impact:
- Your donation today will provide immediate support for current CalTeach students — helping future teachers thrive as they prepare to enter classrooms.
- At the same time, your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar and invested in the new endowment, ensuring CalTeach’s strength and sustainability for generations to come.
Your gift of:
- $5 will combine with other gifts to tell our students that their commitment to educate our society’s children matters to you.
- $50 can send a student or an alum to a teacher conference.
- $150, $300, or $600 provides a scholarship for a UCSC undergraduate in our CaT field course, recognizing their contributions to local classrooms.
