Bees are essential to our food, our health, and our environment — yet they face unprecedented challenges from disease, climate change, and modern agriculture. At the Center for Integrative Bee Research (CIBER) at UC Riverside, we are turning cutting-edge science into real-world solutions to protect bees and secure a healthy future for all of us.
CIBER is a global hotspot for innovative bee research. Our team studies disease-tolerant bees, develop smart sensors that decode the “language” of the hive, and work side-by-side with beekeepers to detect stressors early and keep colonies healthy. From uncovering how bees fight infections to monitoring hive health in real time, our work uniquely bridges biology, engineering, physics, and agriculture.
Our research is based on a One Health approach: healthy bees support healthy ecosystems, resilient food systems, and human well-being — from pollinated crops to natural products such as honey and bee-derived medicines, including bee venom.
Your support on Give Day helps us do support something especially important to us: train the next generation of enthusiastic bee scientists. Donations will support student fellowships and hands-on research projects at CIBER, giving students the opportunity to work on solutions that matter — in the field, in the lab, and in close partnership with our many friends in the local beekeeping community.
By supporting CIBER, you are investing in:
- healthier, disease-resilient bees
- smarter tools to detect and prevent colony loss
- sustainable and affordable food production
- student researchers who will shape the future of pollinator health
Together, we can turn science into solutions — and keep the future buzzing.
