The Geographer’s Scholarship for Global Change Science and Sustainability scholarship supports UCR students (both upper-level undergraduate and graduate) pursuing studies that will improve our understanding of global change processes and/or translate that understanding into recommendations that shape public policy.
Process studies include the processes through which the natural systems affect the human system or the processes through which the human systems affect the natural system. Policy applications include research, assessments, and system studies that can inform policymakers, best on the best science, by projecting the impacts of policy and legislative decisions on the natural and cultural environments. The intent is to make Earth and environmental sciences accessible to policymakers seeking to apply the science in a societal context. Your contribution empowers the next generation of scientists to tackle critical environmental challenges and bridge the gap between science and policy.
The scholarship has supported several recent PhD students from a variety of CNAS departments. Support the next generation of environmental leaders by making a gift today.
