The California Agriculture and Food Enterprise (CAFÉ) builds on UCR’s unique history and strengths in interdisciplinary research, facilities, and outreach to positively impact the science, policies, and practices related to the critical role of food and agriculture to human health and well-being.
The research center supports initiatives like undergraduate research to advance sustainable agriculture in Southern California. CAFÉ investigators develop science-backed practices and technologies for sustaining agriculture in Southern California.
Currently, CAFÉ investigators are helping farmers save water by using AI and sensors to conserve soil and water, working with industry and other stakeholders to envision the next-generation programs for workforce development in agriculture for Southern California, and offering agricultural research opportunities to undergraduate students.
CAFÉ seeks to find solutions to food demand, agricultural footprint, and the well-being of agricultural communities in Southern California and beyond.
