The Pilipinx American Alliance (PAA) was established during the inaugural opening of UC Merced in 2005. In an ongoing attempt to serve and interact with the Pilipinx/Filipinx/Filipinx-American community, PAA stands to promote a network of social support through the encouragement of political struggle, academic excellence, and cultural awareness while celebrating cultural diversity. PAA is focused on raising and spreading awareness of the Filipino culture to UC Merced and the greater community. One of the ways we do this is through our student-led Cultural Dance group, PAA Cultural. We learn and perform traditional Filipino dances for our hosted campus events such as Barrio Fiesta, and other campus events.
Fundraising Goal
PAA is fundraising to continue to support cultural programs that promote the Filipino culture and history. Funds raised will help to purchase cultural clothing, props, and equipment necessary to the dances when performing at campus and events in the Central Valley.
