Bobcat Band at UC Merced
As one of the oldest clubs on campus, the Bobcat Band is the pride and soul of UC Merced. We demonstrate this with our music and instruments through our three different groups: the Bobcat Band, the Bobcat Orchestra, and The Jazzcats. From within the main Bobcat Band, we play a variety of music, acting as a combination of pep, marching, and concert bands. In addition, we are uniquely the only band program in the entire UC system to be entirely student-led. If you are someone who wants to pick up an instrument for the very first time or are a current musician who wants to play with others at a variety of events, we welcome you to join the Bobcat Band. Throughout our history, we have performed on campus and all around Merced at events such as local city-funded parades, sporting events such as basketball and soccer games, senior homes, and numerous smaller community events. As such, this club will provide a fun and welcoming way to play music not only for yourself, but for the Merced community.
Fundraising Goal
Bobcat Band is raising funds to support the purchase of instruments, equipment, and rental expenses so that students can continue to learn and perform music for live audiences.
These contributions will allow the organization to expand its instrument inventory, such as oboes, saxophones, and trumpets so more students can participate in the band. Funds will also support performances and events including the Annual Spring and Winter Concerts, the popular Jazzcats event Revive the Vibe, and a new outdoor collaboration event, the Bobcat Band Music Festival.
