missionbrain:uc
mission:brain at UC Merced is a student branch of a global non-profit organization dedicated to providing advanced neurosurgical treatments to patients in socioeconomically challenged communities. The foundation supports teams of neurosurgeons as they travel the world, performing complex and costly procedures on patients in economically disadvantaged regions at no cost. As a student branch, our mission is to raise funds to support these efforts while also connecting undergraduates interested in becoming physician-scientists, especially in brain-related specialties, with medical students, residents, neurosurgeons, and neurologists. We aim to foster collaboration and inspire students by engaging with professionals who serve medically neglected populations, particularly in Central California.
Fundraising Goal
mission:brain at UC Merced is fundraising to support an interactive health-oriented workshop featuring a trained neurosurgeon from the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. This event invites undergraduate students and others to participate in hands-on learning about neurosurgery and brain health. The funds raised will cover snacks, drinks, and other amenities for guests, as well as supplies to create posters and diagrams to enhance the learning experience. Additionally, the funds will help sponsor travel to prestigious conferences such as the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Physician Scientists Association Regional Conference at USC. These conferences offer students the opportunity to connect with and learn from esteemed medical professionals, gaining valuable insights that are often not otherwise accessible.
